Culture Victoria Project

The Culture Victoria Project was funded by Arts Victoria and aimed to capture the local history of Wangaratta through a series of short films and photographic images.

Those stories include:

Wangaratta Textile Town

Four short films were made about textile manufacture in Wangaratta through Bruck Textile Mill and Australian Country Spinners.

Marianne Gibson’s Crazy Patchwork Quilt

A short film and photographic documentation of Wangaratta Historical Society’s incredibly significant “Marianne Gibson Quilt” (pictured above right) completed by local woman Marianne Gibson in 1891.

Wangaratta Textile Project Blog

Two textile artists (north east Susan Mathews and Melbourne-based Andrea Komninos) visited Wangaratta’s Bruck Textiles and Australian Country Spinners.  They then created new textile works in response and ‘blogged’ about their explorations.
