Welcome to the online hub for Culture in Wangaratta!

A thriving online portal of arts, culture and heritage that shares local stories, photographs and film.

The Rural City of Wangaratta is proud of its cultural, social, natural and built heritage. The name “Wangaratta” means “Long Necked Cormorant” in Pangerang Language. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and pay respect to their Elders, past and present.

Wangaratta has a passionate arts community with a diverse range of visual arts experiences offered through Wangaratta Art Gallery and many other local Galleries along with regular innovative cultural development initiatives delivered throughout the municipality. Cultural services are provided through the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, Wangaratta Museum and High Country Library.

The Rural City of Wangaratta embraces cultural diversity and actively promotes a wide range of initiatives that promote the benefits of a culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse community.
